Biography

I am a postdoctoral researcher (former ERCIM fellow) at the Distributed and Interactive Systems (DIS) group at Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica, CWI, (The National Research Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science in the Netherlands). I am also the Information Director of ACM SIGMM Records.
Truly passionate about multimedia and technology, my research interests are at the crossroads between multimedia processing, data processing and analysis, machine learning, and communication systems.

I received my Laurea Triennale and Magistrale in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering for Energy (comparable to BSc and MSc degrees) from the University of Bologna 🇮🇹 – Campus of Cesena in 2013 and 2016, respectively (Advisor Prof. Marco Chiani). From September 2015 to March 2016, I was a visiting student at WMN (Wireless Multimedia Networking) laboratory at Kingston University, London 🇬🇧 to prepare my final dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Maria Martini.
In May 2017, after a five-month internship,  I joined the Learning and Signal Processing (LASP) group at University College London (UCL) 🇬🇧 under the supervision of Dr Laura Toni. My Ph.D. thesis is “Understanding user interactivity for the next-generation immersive communication: design, optimisation, and behavioural analysis”, which has been awarded by the Fabrizio Lombardi Prize 2022 for the best PhD thesis (the Lombardi Prize is awarded annually to the UCL EEE student who submitted the best PhD thesis over the previous year). In 2021, I joined the Distributed and Interactive Systems (DIS) group at CWI, Amsterdam 🇳🇱, led by Pablo Cesar, initially as a postdoctoral researcher through the prestigious ERCIM (European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics) "Alain Bensoussan" Fellowship" and now working on European research projects.
